Military Children and Child Abuse Awareness Month

The Maryland Women Veteran Legislative Commission with the State of Md Assembly Congressional members, and we discussed policies that still exist regarding women in the service that are also mothers. We compared eras, and are still finding women having to give their custody to relatives only to never be able to recover their children.

Several judges went as far as to declare that women deploying and leaving their children is akin to abandonment, and are unfit to be custodial parents.

There is a group in California that has established a coalition to forge support for our sisters in arms. A few will be on the panel this Saturday.
